In addition to designing and manufacturing my own products, I also work in partnership with like-minded individuals, interior designers, architects and businesses to create entirely unique and exclusive designs. I take on several projects throughout the year, creating bespoke designs for a wide range of projects—from bars, hotels and restaurants to fashion labels and F&B brands.

I was thrilled when Ampersand Interiors put forward my designs to Carina and Victor Contini for the renovation of The Scottish Café & Restaurant at the Scottish National Gallery. The eatery has been one of my favourite places to eat in town for many years. It’s the perfect place to refuel after a jaunt around the gallery or if you’ve been wandering around the city. They offer creative and accomplished twists on traditional Scottish cuisine, which I love. Carina and Victor enlisted the help of Ampersand Interiors to transform the interior. The goal was to create a space that celebrates not only Scottish cuisine, but design too. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect setting for my Fire Thistle design to come to life.

The Fire Thistle design takes inspiration from the vibrant, textural Scottish landscapes and abundant flora. From the rustic sea walls found along the East Neuk coast line, to the tangle of fishing nets in Pittenweem harbour, intricate lichens and a splash of wild gorse. With a nod to tartan plaid and the iconic teasel head making for a flare of Scottish contemporary style! Lining the walls with velvet rather than wallpaper gives such a richness of colour, and fills the sun-drenched space with personality, vibrancy and energy.
